I have never seen anything like the game this last Sunday between the Seattle Seahawks and the Houston Texans. One (at least one) penalty for almost every play in the first couple minutes of the game. Has anyone checked the record books for the longest quarter in NFL history? This might have gotten it. I have a hard time believing all of these were just, but I'm not a ref, obviously. I'm sure the refs were shaking their heads at all of these as well, but they have to call them, can't let 'em slide just because there have already been a bunch already. Unless one of these guys makes a call that is completely outrageous, like the umpire in the White Sox/Angels baseball playoff game last week, I'm going to assume these guys are doing a great job.
On another note, the Hawks came away with an expected win against Houston in beautiful Seattle on Sunday night. All in all, great game to watch and another W tacked up. However, and I won't go into details, but if we make some of the mistakes we did in this game against a good team, the final score might be reversed. Don't get me wrong, I love my Hawks, and they are playing some damn good football right now and we will go the playoffs (oh yes, we will go to the playoffs), but we do need to clean up some of the standard mistakes we are making. That is all I will say about that.
RB Shawn Alexander had a nice game with four rushing touchdowns, and although it is nice to see some emotion, the TD celebrations are getting a little odd. I liked it better earlier this year when Alexander would do a little bicep flex or point to the fans, that was niceÉ Hasselbeck did well with a very well rounded performance. If he wouldn't have thrown that interception directly to the other team, and made sure not to run back another 15 yards before getting sacked on a couple occasions, he would probably have had one of the best performances of his career.
Mack Strong got a couple good touches which is always nice to see, Maurice Morris had a few huge carries and a TD, Rocky Bernard is a sacking machine, and Peter Warrick had a fantastic catch that he snatched out of the air, one of those Òit was a site to seeÓ things, and one of those times when you couldn't be happier you TiVo'd the game just to see that catch a couple more times. I guess Warrick staying after practice yesterday to get a couple more catches in paid off. All in all, great job boys, and way to put a stomp on the Texans, we needed some additional confidence and I think we got it.
